Stardust Dust Collector Orientation CK File
===========================================================================

Created on March 3, 2005 by Boris Semenov, NAIF/JPL.

Orientation Data in the File
--------------------------------------------------------

This file contains orientation and angular velocity data for the
Stardust (SDU) Collector frame, 'SDU_DUST_COLLECTOR', relative to
the SDU spacecraft frame, 'SDU_SPACECRAFT'. The NAIF ID code for
     the 'SDU_DUST_COLLECTOR' frame is -29040.

Status
--------------------------------------------------------

This file has been prepared for archiving with the Planetary Data
     System.

Pedigree
--------------------------------------------------------

This file contains commanded orientation of the collector because
no direct indicators of the actual collector orientation were
available in the spacecraft engineering telemetry. From indirect
indicators, it is believed that the collector was successfully
deployed and positioned according to the commands from the ground.

The following source data (commanded collector angles) for this
file were provided by SDU spacecraft engineer Allan R. Cheuvront,
     LMA:

The diagram below illustrates the collector frame, orientation for
which is provided in this CK, and the meaning of the commanded
collector angle in the source data above:

As seen on the diagram, a single rotation by 90 deg - ANG about +Y
axis is needed to align the spacecraft frame with the collector
frame for any commanded collector angle, ANG. These rotations,
computed for each of the angles and constant between 00:00 UTC of
the date of that angle and 00:00 UTC of the date of the next
angle, are stored in this CK file.

Approximate Time Coverage
--------------------------------------------------------

This file covers the following time span, UTC:

              START_TIME STOP_TIME PERIOD
          ------------------- ------------------- ------
          2000-02-22T00:00:00 2000-05-01T00:00:00 ISP 1
          2002-08-05T00:00:00 2002-12-09T00:00:00 ISP 2
          2003-12-24T00:00:00 2004-01-03T00:00:00 WILD 2

This file is a type 3 CK file (segment) which provides linear
interpolation between orientation data points, resulting in
continuous coverage within time windows specified above.

Usage Note
--------------------------------------------------------

In order to use this file an SDU SCLK file, containing
coefficients mapping SDU on-board time to ET, standard LSK file,
providing UTC to ET mapping, and SDU FK file, providing
definitions of the spacecraft and collector frames, must be loaded
     into a user's program.
