2001 Mars Odyssey Nominal Nadir-Pointed Orientation CK
===========================================================================

     Created by Boris Semenov, NAIF/JPL

Abstract
--------------------------------------------------------

     This CK file contains nominal nadir-pointed orientation for 2001 Mars
     Odyssey (M01) spacecraft. This orientation is defined as follows:

         -- THEMIS IR boresight (+Z) points nadir and

         -- THEMIS IR detector columns (+Y) is parallel to the inertial
              s/c velocity wrt to Mars.

     This file is intended to provide a rough orientation estimate for the
     cases when actual telemetered orientation is not available, and it's
     known that the s/c was flying nadir-pointed. For such cases the
     orientation provided by this file would normally match the actual
     orientation to about 0.5 degrees. If this file is used in the
     final science data reduction, it's recommended that this should be
     noted in the meta information accompanying science data.

     THIS FILE SHOULD NOT BE USED TO COMPUTE ORIENTATION FOR ANY TIME
     PERIODS WHEN ORIENTATION MODE IS UNKNOWN OR ORIENTATION IS KNOWN TO BE
     NOT NADIR-POINTED.

Appendix 1: ``prediCkt'' Log and Orientation Specification
===========================================================================

   This C-kernels was produced using the SPICE program "prediCkt" on
   2004-MAY-06 21:12:38. The following files were provided in support
   of the construction of the attitude given in this kernel.

   This C-kernel matches the specification given below to 0.00100 degrees.

   The text kernel used to specify the orientation of structures
   included in this file is given below.

   =============================================================
   The specification in this section is for 2001 Mars Odyssey (M01)
   nominal mapping orientation -- THEMIS IR +Z points nadir, THEMIS IR
   +Y along s/c velocity.

   Two directions should be known to construct this orientation -- Mars
   as seen from the spacecraft and spacecraft velocity with respect to
   Mars.

      \begintext

   THEMIS IR camera should be pointed in such way that boresight (+Z)
   is toward the planet and spacecraft velocity is parallel to the IR
   detector frame +Y axis.
